In many casual conversations I have asked people if “truth is subjective”. Sadly, many times the answer has been “of course”. The spirit of this seems to be one of tolerance for another person’s beliefs, as if to say, “I am ok with whatever you believe”…or maybe more accurately, “who are you to judge me for what I believe?!”
I don’t understand how this sort of philosophy makes any sense to people. Believing or not believing anything about anything…does not change anything!
We understand truth in physics and chemistry…it is what it is – my toe hurts when I kick steel…regardless of whether I believe steel to be soft – deal with it.
Truth is not subjective…but our understanding and knowledge can be less than truth.
God transforms. He does this through the “renewing of our minds”…and this is accomplished by the acquisition and application of TRUTH.

Right on! I’m with you. Truth is not only not subjective, but thank the Lord it is the only truly objective thing we have to stand on. Scripture cannot be any clearer on what really matters…It’s all about Jesus.
Obviously there are situations that might have contradicting answers (e.g. giving radically vs. savings account). Both of those are examples of things the Lord might have one do to answer a given situation.
I tend to take this a step farther in my head…I don’t like it when Christians ‘agree to disagree’. Of course, there are topics in scripture that don’t need to be debated if we disagree because they don’t really affect Kingdom expansion. However, if two Christians are going to debate something, and at the end of the debate they ‘agree to disagree’, I see that as lazy pride. I see it this way because as we are saying here there is ONLY 1 Truth, and His name is Jesus. And, He is the same always, NEVER contradicts Himself, and, He is on no-one’s side…That is what it means to not be subjective!
Great Post! I hope it gets a lot of traffic! Later! Aaron
I AGREE DUDE – IRON SHARPENS IRON…SPUR ONE ANOTHER ON…
The only addition to this is…it’s all about Jesus…and the result of Him in our life should be love.
Bless you man!
Galatians 5:6 (The Message)
4-6I suspect you would never intend this, but this is what happens. When you attempt to live by your own religious plans and projects, you are cut off from Christ, you fall out of grace. Meanwhile we expectantly wait for a satisfying relationship with the Spirit. For in Christ, neither our most conscientious religion nor disregard of religion amounts to anything. What matters is something far more interior: FAITH EXPRESSED IN LOVE.
